It's the Spending Stupid

I am really starting to take seriously Glen Beck's new book, The Overton Window. The basis is rather than face the issues head on and vote up or down, change the issues to deflect the hidden agenda, effectively moving the focus while drastic changes are made under your nose. My fear is that this scenerio is being played out with the economy. Rather than face the hard truth that the spending on the social agenda and the economy is not sustainable, Obama and his minions are changing the subject or moving the window to deflect scrutiny.

Americans are ANGRY! We are frustrated at our tax dollars being squandered on PORK and bailing out large corporations that knew better but let greed drive them over the cliff anyway. Eric Cantor has a great idea with raising the attention of the electorate with the You Cut website. This website is great in that it highlights wasteful spending that the public can vote to cut. The winner is then brought to the house floor and voted on. So far, NONE of the cuts have passed the Congress, even after being identified as wasteful. What does this tell us about Congress? What does this tell us about who is actually in charge? Well my friends, this speaks volumes to me.

In another tact, an interview with the Majority Whip James Clyburn revealed that some are too focused on tax cuts. See the summary here. Personally, I think that politicians on both sides of the aisle are missing the point. "We need to live within our means" I say, don't cut or raise taxes in any way. First we need to identify all of the pork and STUPID spending programs and cut them immediately! Get them out now and if our politicians don't have the stomach for it, then get rid of them and put some folks in office that do have the stomach to make the tough decisions. Appoint an independent council to examine the ballooning federal bureacracy and eliminate the dead wood. Finally, take the 10,000 plus page tax code and burn it!! Institute a flat tax across the board or tax consumption. Easy, simple and not nearly the required manpower for the Internal Revenue Service.

Along these same lines, All of the smart folks in Washington are wringing their hands over why the economy hasn't recovered or worse yet, try to outright lie to us about the strides they have made in the economic recovery by touting the job numbers from last month that were predominately temporary Census jobs that will end in a few months time. Mr. Obama, give us a break! You want to see the economy boom? Try the above ideas and then stand back and let good old fashioned unfettered Capitalism take our Economy out of the sewer and back out in the front where it belongs. …….V.R.B.

Open Letter

DIVORCE AGREEMENT THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY WELL PUT AND I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT'S BY A YOUNG PERSON, A STUDENT!!! WHATEVER HE RUNS FOR, I'LL VOTE FOR HIM.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce.... I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them). We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood . You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security. We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N.. but we will no longer be paying the bill. We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find. You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World. We'll practice trickle down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag. Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you Answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Who is Alvin Green

Democratic leaders in South Carolina are playing damage control due to a famously named individual named Alvin Green. No, he isn't the singer. He is virtually unknown other than to the authorities who have had dealings with Mr. Green on a seedy porn case and an investigation by the Federal Election Commission concerning campaign funding.

While the talking heads are busy with the sorted details, I want to know how in the hell this man could possibly take 59% of the vote? What does this tell us about our duties as Americans. It tells me that we are sadly misinformed, disinterested and absolutely insane for casting a vote based on name recognition alone. If you want better government, you better know who you are putting in office and then monitor them closely.

The UGLY truth about Health Care

Starting in 2011 (next year folks) your W 2 tax form sent by your employer will be increased to show the value of what ever health insurance you are given by the company. It does not matter if that's a private concern or governmental body of some sort. If you're retired ? So what; your gross will go up by the amount of insurance you get.

You will be required to pay taxes on a large sum of money that you have never seen.

Take your tax form you just finished and see what $15,000 or $20,000 additional gross does to your tax debt. That's what you'll pay next year. For many it also puts you into a new higher bracket so it's even worse.

This is how the government is going to buy insurance for 15 % that don't have insurance and it's only part of the tax increases.

Not believing this I researched the summaries and here's what I'm reading:

TITLE IX REVENUE PROVISIONS- SUBTITLE A: REVENUE OFFSET PROVISIONS-(sec. 9001, as modified by sec. 10901)
Sec.9002. "requires employers to include in the W-2 form of each employee the aggregate cost of applicable employer sponsored group health coverage that is excludable from the employees gross income."

"I live and work in a state overrun with illegals. They make more money having kids than we earn working full-time. Today I had a 25-year old with 8 kids - that’s right 8; all illegal anchor babies and she had the nicest nails, cell phone, hand bag, clothing, etc. She makes about $1,500 monthly for each child; you do the math. I used to say, “We are the dumbest nation on earth.” Now I must say and sadly admit: WE are the dumbest people on earth (that includes ME) for we elected the idiot idealogues who have passed the bills that allow this. Sorry, but we need a revolution. Vote them all out in 2010. "

Vice Principal and The First Amendment

This week during the protest of Arizona's new immigration law, students at an L.A. High School decided that they wanted to wear the American Flag on T-shirts and Bandanas. The fact that it was Cinco Demayo, a Mexican holiday, should not have made a difference. The interviews with Latino students saying that they were disrespected and that they would never would have worn the Mexican flag on the 4th of July misses the whole point. Both parties had every right to wear a flag of their own choosing because it is protected speech under the 1st Amendment of the Constitution.

There was no hint of a disturbance but rather a Vice-Principal's proactive approach to what he thought would be a disruptive atmosphere. That in of itself doesn't pass Constitutional muster. America is the Great Melting Pot. This Country was founded by immigrants and our Constitution has evolved to celebrate that fact by allowing all Americans, regardless of heritage, the freedoms that we enjoy.

The bottom line is this, I may not agree with your speech, but I will defend to the death if necessary, your right to express it! That Ladies and Gentlemen is what America is all about!
